Welcome to the gear gallery! This is what I use to do what I can where I am. There is no such thing as “too little” to get started. Even if all you have is your computer mic and Audacity, you can make music.
This list goes in order of importance, and is split between technology and software. The more I use it, the higher on the list it will be. Also, you can read my post about my setup to see how I put it all together (if you haven’t figured it out for yourself :).
I included links to gear you can still buy mint online. Links always go to sites I personally use and/or trust. No affiliate links.
So, to recap: 2008 Macbook, Ibanez electric guitar, Peavey amp and pedal, the AT2020USB mic, UX1 interface, Roland drums and Ibanez mini bass.
So to recap: Garageband (X and 5.1), EzDrummer, and POD Farm 2.
Hope you found this helpful. If you’re considering buying any of the gear listed here, I recommend all of it wholeheartedly. That being said, don’t wait to make music until you’ve got “the right gear,” and don’t stress that you’re making a mistake in buying POD Farm over Guitar Rig or EzDrummer vs Superior Drummer. Make music with what you have – it doesn’t matter what tools you use if you create something beautiful.
